I thought I’d let them get a little later start today because of jet lag. (Actually, I don’t think it was so much jet lag, as in just plain a late night at the NCO-Club...)
The bus left at about 10:30 a.m. We headed towards Rhaunen and then to Stipshausen. We were lucky: the church was open. We had a pretty good look around inside of it (didn’t we, Joe?) It is a very old and pretty
church.

We got back on the bus and headed via the back roads towards Morbach. Unfortunately, we couldn’t drive through the middle of town because of the size of the bus. We stopped at the ruins of “Baldenau”.

|
We continued our cultural site-seeing with a stop at “Belginum”, a new archealogical park, not too far from “the Base”, next to B 327. We were originally going to have our picnic lunch there, but alas, it rained.
(Rain, in the Hunsrueck, noooo) (I still had troubles convincing them that we were actually having a heat wave and drought: It started raining on Monday... for the first time in months)

We piled back on the bus and stopped at our cafeteria for lunch instead. Afterwards, we continued along B 327 to Kastellaun. We just drove through it and headed off to Simmern. We spent about an hour there.

|
Our next stop was Kirchberg. We took a leisurly stroll through it, too.

We went back to the cafeteria and switched modes of transportation. We drove in our private cars to Sohren, for a little bit of money spending at “The Three Sisters” (Kaefer’s).

In the mean time, Udo was making delicious “Spiessbraten” for us on his self-made grill. We ate that with salad at around 7:30 p.m.
