Off we were to Emmelshausen, where we got on a train (about 1/2 hour ride) that took us down the hill to Boppard.

Here we had a little change in the original itinerary, and basically skipped the town of Boppard. Instead we caught the 11 a.m. ship. It ended up being the newly restored paddle-wheel “Goethe”. It sure was nice.

We got to St. Goar shortly after noon and had lunch together in a nice restaurant.

|
We took a stroll through town..

About half of the group climbed up to the castle; the other half rode up the castle.

Udo, Julie and I found a neat little cubby-hole overlooking the Rhein (and overseeing the construction of the renovation of the castle). We thought we were well hidden, but they found us anyway. Oh, well

|
We rode back to “Base” and had Schwenkbraten for supper. Mayor Koppke joined us We actually sat outside for supper! (The last, and only rain, was on Saturday). It actually was turning warm again. (BTW, just for basic
information: We’re back to our heat wave and drought...)

After supper, we sat over in the little tent and enjoyed the conversation (and wine, and beer) until late that night.
