It’s time to get nervous...
Have I forgotten anything? What time are the guests arriving? Will they find their way to Hahn? Will those with cars find their way here to Lautzenhausen? Do we have enough cake? Do we have enough to drink? What do the guests want to drink? Are there enough chairs? Are there too many chairs, making the whole thing unconfortable? What are we going to have for lunch while we are waiting? Is there toilet paper in the restrooms? Did we bring the coffee filters? OK. OK: STOP. BREATH.
Everything will go just fine!!! (And, it did!!!!)
Boy, do the decorations look beautiful. Waldtraudt and Gudrun sure did a wonderful job on the wreaths and the bouquets. The little “heads” look cute on the window sill. The table with the “browsing material” is all set. Looks like we’re ready to go...
My mother and father took up their “greeting duty” at the hotel around 11 a.m. Sure enough, it didn’t take long before they had “gathered” three participants. The left my cell phone number at the hotel and took off with their group in search of something to eat for lunch...
After the “committee” at the town hall ate their lunch (pizza delivery ;-), I got a call from the hotel that the other four had gotten there - so I went over and picked them up to bring them to Lautzenhausen.
Coffee and cake was set for 3 p.m. By then the Trenarys (with Tammy, our “reunion mascot” and the Oswolds joined us.
After eating the delicious cake, we decided to take a stroll around “exciting” Lautzenhausen to freshen up the guys’ memories of the town. It turned out that they didn’t remember too much about what it looked like - which they admitted didn’t have very much to do with how the town had changed - most just couldn’t remember anything past the “First-G” ;-)
We returned back the “reunion headquarters” and enjoyed a bratwurst or two. Then jet-lag set in, so the “taxis” took part of the group back to the hotel at about 7:30 p.m.... The rest caved in at about 10 p.m.
