The last morning...

Some of the group is still around, so we had breakfast together at 9:00 a.m.

Afterwards: The rest of the good-byes. I took the Dietzs up to their bus - my dad took Larry and Ruth Ann up to pick up their rental.

Well, it’s over. After over a year of promoting and planning - and then actually having held the reunion - it’s weird - it’s over.

It’s back to the “reunion headquarters” for the final clean up. Billy Ray is still there - thank goodness - because the place was cleaned up in no time. The tables and chairs are stacked back up in their corner. The kitchen is back to normal - and the cars are packed up with the half of our household that we lugged over. The rest of the stuff, we’ll pick up with the trailer later.

We all head over to our place for lunch (consisting of left-overs - but still good...)

Billy Ray and I head back over to the hall with the trailer to pick up the rest of the stuff. I lock up the door for the last time. Now, it is REALLY over. We even meet “our” bus with a different bus driver driving it and a different group riding it - it just doesn’t look right.

That evening, Udo and I drive Billy Ray over to where he is spending the night. The last participant has left.

Boy, is it weird to just lie on the couch and stare into the TV.

But, you know what: I’d do it all over again - maybe not next month - maybe not next year - but, yes I’d do it again. Oh, yeah, I have ;-))) And, it was worth it, again. OK. So the family reunion here is planned for 2007. OK. No problem!!! As my “colleagues” from the Reunion Contacts Message Board say “once you got the bug, you can’t get rid of it.” OK. I think that now that I have managed to finish my “diary” I can hand Elmo over to someone else now...

As for my Hahnites: I hope to see y’all next year in Colorado!!!

Bye!

Jo Ann
